Dungeness' horizon plays host to a pair of majestic Nuclear Power Stations, Dungeness A and B.

Dungeness A was connected to the National Grid in 1965 and operated until December 2006, with defuelling reaching completion in June 2012. Peter was invited to photograph the Magnox power station in 2005 prior to its decommissioning and was allowed to capture, the usually concealed inner workings of the plant.

June, this year, it was announced that, following a 3 year technical review and hiatus, Dungeness B would move into the defuelling phase with immediate effect. This monumental feet of engineering has generated enough energy to meet the needs of every home in Kent, since it came online in 1983, with 2016 marking it's best year ever for Dungeness.

Although the pair will no longer operational, they will remain majestic structures on the horizon, as the decommissioning and demolition period for both is predicted to be around 100 years.
